It is no secret that selling merchandise is a big revenue source for many artists. Adva’s mobile platform has many great features that can really help independent artists with selling merchandise, on and off stage. In this blog post, I would like to list out a few ideas on how to maximize your merchandise revenue using Adva.

For those who do not know anything about merchandise, let’s take a step back… As a solo artist, one has to go through many challenges. The first is to release your music. The obvious second one is booking concerts and setting up a tour. In the life of an independent artist, most of the time, only after completing these first two we get to the point where we can start thinking about merchandise sales. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be this way, because why would we want to miss out on potential revenue?

With Adva Mobile’s platform, the biggest win for you is that you get your own store. There there are no intermediaries, no middle man, no hidden fees. You sell your merchandise and keep your revenue. The best part of having your own store is that you can learn who your superfans are. You can identify who they are, which city they live and how they engage with your products (making a purchase increases their engagement score). This is a very useful tool, because other websites or platforms who might host your merchandise usually will not provide you with your fan demographic.

Moreover, using the Adva platform your fans can check out your entire catalog and limited edition goods you might have exclusively on sale there. If you will take the extra mile and create exclusive merch for each show, you can also offer that special merch to fans who were not at the show. This would be a nice way to reward those people who have been your loyal fans, but  were not able to make it to the show. Not only it’s a nice gesture to your fans, but also extra revenue for you: Win-win.

Of course, when you are dealing with mobile phone numbers, respect to privacy is essential (mobile numbers are considered to be a much more private piece of information than email).

Before getting started, I strongly suggest that you take a look at the two blog posts, 4 Rules of Texting for Artists and 4 Effective Texting Ideas for Artists. However when done right, mobile marketing is more fruitful than email, because emails have a 20% open rate, while texts have an 98% open rate! A lot of bands advertise their merchandise through their monthly newsletters. So imagine: how would your sales get better with SMS?

Merchandises is a great revenue source for artists, and using Adva’s mobile platform, you can maximize your merchandise sales whether you are on the road or at home.
