Adva Mobile Artists earn three Grammy Nominations

Adva Artists Sean Ardoin (text Get KOOL to 444999) and Mickey Smith (text Get SAX to 444999) have been notified that they are nominees for a 2019 Grammy in three categories.

Sean Grammy!Sean Ardoin has been nominated in two categories. For Regional Roots Best Album, Kreole Rock and Soul is up for the award. Gary Schwind of AXS writes “This is a fun album with bright melodies and plenty of opportunities to dance. Ardoin carries on the family music tradition very well while adding his own touches to this traditional music.” and “it doesn’t take long to figure that this is not the Creole music of Ardoin’s grandfather. ”

“Kick Rocks” is the first song on the album and it opens with a guitar riff that is pure funk rock. This song is nominated for the Best American Roots Performance category.

Huber “Mickey” Smith was nominated for the Music Educator Award for his teaching at Maplewood Middle School. The award is given to educators who make a significant and lasting impact on the field of music education. This is at least the second time we know of that Mickey has been nominated for this award.

Best luck to our Adva Mobile nomination recipients, and if you’re a voting member of the Academy, consider Sean and Mickey!

The Grammys take place on February 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles; they’ll air live on CBS.
